At Plasma Technology, we provide tools for the engineering of micro- and nano-structures, with customers using our process solutions to research and produce materials and semiconductors vital for everything from medical devices and diagnostics, to electric cars and quantum computers. The OpportunityThis is a fantastic opportunity to join our Production team and work on the assembly build of high-tech, cutting edge products.  You will develop new capabilities and work on some of our most complex system configurations. For this role you will need a strong engineering background and a high level of technical skills and knowledge. You will be employed to work on a rotating shift pattern.  Each working week consists of 4 shifts of 8 hours and one of 5 hours.  Currently the shifts are Early (starting at 06:00hrs) and Afternoon (starting at 14:00hrs). Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Build systems, sub-assemblies and piece parts for complex systems efficiently to the right quality levels and ISO standards, and to achieve build schedulesEnsure that the requirements of the BOM and the customer specification are achievedIdentify and resolve build problemsReport technical issues and record using the FRACAS processMaintain your levels of technical competence by undertaking necessary trainingAct as a point of reference to ensure that the technicians within the build area are fully aware of the build sequenceTrain and guide less experienced techniciansSet an example of the highest level of build cleanliness, house keeping and Health and Safety issues within the build areas, and support and promote 5S initiativesContribute to the performance of the Production Team through continuous improvement initiativesWork on a rotating shift pattern in line with the rota notified to you by your Team Leader.About you:Essential unless otherwise stated:   Time served Mechanical apprenticeship or City and Guilds part 3, orHND, HNC, or BTech level 3Detail fitting skills to precision level, including:-machining (typically milling and turning)Vacuum and pneumaticsPipe bending with stainless steel, ¼” to ½”Ability to read mechanical drawingsAbility to fault find and implement corrective actionIdeally - relevant Electrical QualificationsIdeally - combination of mechanical, electrical and electronic assembly skillsIdeally - experience of working in the semiconductor industryPC skillsHighly committed team playerHigh standards of build quality; flexible, co-operative and willing; punctual and self-disciplinedGood communication skillsBenefits:In addition to a competitive starting salary, Oxford Instruments also offers structured career development opportunities, a good work-life balance, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, 25 days annual leave, half-days on Fridays, a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan, and a flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements. Follow us at www.twitter.com/oxinst or www.facebook.com/oxinst#LI-AC1 All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability. Note to recruitment agencies: Oxford Instruments operates a Preferred Supplier List, and we do not accept unsolicited agency CVs.
